About Us
Coming Together With Weaving Words
Sparklemuffin & Weaver is an independent literary publisher celebrating the beautifully odd.
We publish fiction and nonfiction that explores the mystical, religious, occult, paranormal, cultural, Indigenous, unconventional, and unexpected corners of human experience.
We believe the best stories don't simply entertain us. They pull us into another perspective, challenge what we thought we knew, and leave a thread behind that connects us to something larger.
Meet Sparklemuffin & Weaver
Two spiders. Two ways of finding a story.
Sparklemuffin is the curious one.
She explores. She notices. She likes the dance of words. She follows the unexpected, and boldly looks for ways to celebrate. She represents the reader; the person who opens a book because something inside it might lead somewhere fascinating.
Weaver creates the web.
Patiently. Deliberately. Thread by thread.
Weaver represents the writer; the person who takes experience, imagination, knowledge, and language and transforms them into something another person can enter.
Coming together, they create a place where stories meet.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Stories are webs.
Every story connects something to something else.
A person to an idea.
A reader to a culture.
A memory to a possibility.
A writer to someone they've never met.
A strange idea to someone who desperately needed to find it.
Then perhaps:
Curiosity matters.
We want books that make people look twice.
Strangeness belongs here.
Not everything meaningful is conventional, respectable, comfortable, or easily categorized.
Darkness belongs here too.
Not every story needs to be beautiful in a traditional sense. We are interested in the mysterious, unsettling, transgressive, macabre, forbidden, and difficult alongside the beautiful and uplifting.
Many ways of knowing belong here.
We are interested in literature that engages with religion, spirituality, folklore, Indigenous knowledge, occult traditions, cultural memory, paranormal experience, scholarship, imagination, and lived experience—with respect for the traditions and people represented.
That last part is particularly useful for you because it establishes that "occult" doesn't mean one narrow aesthetic.
WHAT WE PUBLISH
WE PUBLISH WORK THAT HAS A THREAD TO FOLLOW.
We are interested in writers who make us curious.
Fiction that creates worlds we don't want to leave.
Nonfiction that takes us somewhere unexpected.

Our Mission
Coming Together with Weaving Words
Sparklemuffin & Weaver brings writers and readers together through the ancient art of storytelling. Inspired by two spider archetypes, Sparklemuffin embodies curiosity, expression, intelligence, and discovery; Weaver embodies patience, imagination, craft, and connection. Together they represent the two forces that make literature thrive: the reader who seeks extraordinary stories and the writer who weaves them into existence.
We publish distinctive fiction and nonfiction that explores mystical, religious, occult, paranormal, cultural, Indigenous, and unconventional perspectives, while creating space for voices and stories that might not find an obvious home elsewhere.
Our Vision
Celebrating the Beautifully Odd
A literary web where curious readers and expressive writers find one another, and where beautifully odd stories have somewhere to belong.
